Andy Murray wins his first grand slam - US Open 2012 winner

Andy Murray was fifth time lucky... winning his first grand slam title playing in his fifth finals at a grand slam.

Britain's Andy Murray beat Serbian Novak Djokovic in a gruelling 5-setter to clinch his first grandslam at the US Open 2012 championships. Murray outlasted defending champion Djokovic 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 after nearly five hours to become the first British man to win a Grand Slam title since Fred Perry captured the Wimbledon and the U.S. Championships in 1936.  Wimbledon 2013 waiting??

Humble Andy Murray crying after Wimbledon finals

Andy Murray reached Wimbledon finals becoming the first British player to be in Wimbledon finals for over quite a long time. But, Roger Federer beat Murray in the finals to shatter Britain's dream of ending Britain's 76-year wait for an All England Club men's champion.

Murray was unapologetic at the end of the hard loss to Federer in the Wimbledon finals. He ended up choking with tears during the interview in the center court. It was nice to see a simple and humble person that Murray was.... even in this defeat he did win many of us and am sure its just a matter of time before he wins his first of his many Grandslams to come!!

Here is a look at how Andy Murray tried hard to keep his emotions under control after the Wimbledon finals loss to Federer.. but ended up crying...

I’m getting closer,” Andy Murray, whose valiant effort was watched by Royal Box guests Prime Minister David Cameron, David Beckham and Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton, choked as applause rang out.

I was told after my semi-final that this was my best chance, Roger’s 30 now, but he’s not bad for a 30-year-old, he played a great tournament. Congratulations, you deserve it,” Murray added.

I think he’s giving himself so many looks at big titles. I really do believe deep down in me he will win grand slams, not just one,Federer said.

I'm sure Murray is on his path to glory soon... and after this Wimbledon, Murray has got one more fan added to the growing list :)

1. India's World Cup Cricket Triumph

First and foremost being India winning the Cricket World Cup 2011 beating Sri Lanka in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on 2nd April, 2011. This was India's second World Cup after Kapil Dev's team led India to their first World Cup way back in 1983. Sachin Tendulkar achieved his World cup dream after six attempts playing in World Cups.

3. Tennis World Number One Novak Djokovic showing his supremacy in 2011

The world no. One Serbian Novak Djokovic dominated this tennis season with a 70-6 win-loss record, which saw the Serbian winning 10 ATP titles, including three of the four Grand Slams - Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open. His 43-game unbeaten streak from the start of the season was an ATP tour record, surpassing John McEnroe's 42-game mark in 1982.
He had a phenominal 2011 where both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal lost their ground to this Serbian star.

4. Formula One Champion Sebastian Vettel's amazing 2011 season

He also finished on the podium in 18 of the 19 races he completed. The young German (just 24 years old) is the fast on the rise to be an efficient successor of Michael Schumacher.

5. Virender Sehwag scoring double century (219) surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's 200 in ODI Cricket
